Guidelines and Rules for Parents
Arrival: We would like to welcome you and your child to the Toddler Room. These are some guidelines to follow. When arriving in the morning, we would like to remind you to sign in your
child; The sign in sheets are located on the refrigerator door. Your child will have a designated hook for his/her coat. Any food needing refrigeration should be put the refrigerator. Please label each item with your childs name. All other items may be kept in his or her lunch box. Quick goodbyes are easier for everyone. Please let us know of any changes in your child's diet, sleeping
habits and medications. If anyone else will be picking your child up, please inform the staff in writing, in advance.
Diaper Changes: Diaper changes take place every 2 hours or more as needed for BMs.
Snacks: Please send extra food & snack, because children are sometime finicky eaters. Send healthy food if we can encourage healthy eating now, it will last into adulthood. Foods should be cut up and fully prepared. We will microwave any food that needs to be heated. No candy please!
Circle Time: This is one of the most important times of the day. Most of our curriculum is planned around this time. Circle time provides an educational as well as a social atmosphere. Here the children learn to interact with one another. They also learn patience and taking turns. Most of all, its fun! During circle time, we read stories, sing
songs and learn about different themes.
Activity Time: We may do an art or a cooking activity. Some days we may use paint, chalk, crayons, markers or pens. Children are always encouraged to try all the activities, but are never pushed. It is all up to them if they would like to participate. If they do not wish to participate, they can always read books or use the toys.
Outside Play: We go outside twice daily. Please make sure to dress your child appropriately for the weather. During the summer we do have sprinkler days. These will be marked on your curriculum sheet. To participate in this activity, your child must have a bathing suit, towel, water shoes (or extra pair of shoes)
Lunch Time: The children have a lunch time of about 40 minutes, They are encouraged to use forks and spoons appropriately.
Nap: Your child will need a blanket and a cot sheet. The sheet can be purchased for $7.00. A soft cuddly toy may also be brought in. Blankets are to be brought home on Friday to be washed. The children's rest time is from 12:00 2:00 daily.
Departure: When you pick up your child, please be sure to get his/her daily report. It should be in your childs folder on the wall. If not, please ask the teacher on staff. We ask that you sign out your child at pick-up time. See you in the morning!
Other important tidbits:
We encourage parents to be consistent with your scheduled agreement drop off and pick-up times. Coming in at too many different times can confuse a child and makes drop off more difficult. Please keep in mind that we must meet the staff/child ratio at all time.
Please feel free to call during the day to check on your child. We suggest that nap time is best, so that our daily activities will not be interrupted. We understand that it may be difficult on you to be away from your child!
If you ever have any suggestions for the classroom, please let us know. Were always open to new ideas.
We ask for a courtesy call if your child is going to be late or absent.
We thank you for your support and cooperation to make this transition time as smooth as possible.
